Installation/Activation FAQ

This page does not apply to particleIllusion 3.0.5 for Windows, only older versions. For installation issues with version 3.0.5 visit this page.

I installed the demo/trial version -- how do I activate it?
The current demo versions of particleIllusion 3.0 (both Win and Mac) and particleIllusion SE for Mac cannot be activated. Uninstall the demos and use these installers found on this page

How can I deauthorize a computer or move my activation to another computer?
You can't do that at this time. Just uninstall from the old computer, then install and activate on the new computer.

I'm using a Mac version of particleIllusion and am getting an error message with "-10" in it. How do I fix this?
Delete the following file, then launch particleIllusion again:
Users / Shared / Ticket / particleIllusion.ticket
Do NOT delete the ticket file that is in the particleIllusion application folder. You'll need to activate again after deleting this file.

I've used up my final activation -- does that mean that I can no longer use the software?
No, it just means that you need to contact us to request an activation count reset. Please make sure to include your serial number and full name or we won't be able to help you.

I'm trying to activate the Mac version of particleIllusion for After Effects and am getting an "error writing license file" message. What should I do?
You are probably using an older version of the pIAE Mac installer. Get the latest installer on this page

My demo expired -- is there a way I can get additional time? If there was a problem and the trial ended earlier than it should have, we may be able to fix this. Contact us and give us the details.
