Evolve Media Solutions
Evolve Media Solutions based in Gainesville, Florida and sister studio DieselVFX in Orlando, Florida are home to some of the most interesting effects and creative production projects to use particleIllusion including national commercials for Cadillac/Saab (GM), Cox Communications, Publix Supermarkets and numerous regional commercial productions. The facility is also an established contributor to well known music video projects from artists like ODB (of Wu Tang Clan), Uncle Cracker, the Dave Mathews Band and hundreds of other promotional and commercial projects.

"Using particleIllusion as our core particle emission tool allows us to go beyond what is available in any other desktop toolset. For our latest project for Birkenstock USA particleIllusion's proven effectiveness allowed us to create additional and ultimately controllable rain where on-set physical effects fell short of the desired result. We also rely on particleIllusion's capabilities for project previsualization. In many cases, we've built previs effects for wisps of smoke or rain and even snow to find that the final effect was only mildly modified from our previsualization. And when changes are necessary, particleIllusion uses full OpenGL to rip through even the most dense compilations in minutes, not hours like other solutions.

Michael Munkittrick, Managing Creative Director, Evolve Media Solutions, Inc.

"particleIllusion is my secret weapon. When I'm under tight deadlines, which is almost always, particleIllusion allows me to quickly and easily create unique animated elements and effects for my work. It's extremely customizable, easy to use, and renders super-fast, allowing me to get my projects done on time and under budget. It's nice hearing your clients say things like "This is great! I can't believe how fast you got this done! Are you available for another project?"

CyberMotion
Los Angeles-based CyberMotion is a motion graphics design studio, founded by Trish and Chris Meyer, specializing in high-impact, multi-layered 2D and 3D graphics for video and film. In addition to creating motion graphics for a large variety of media and venues including film titles and trailers, commercials and show opens, they are considered two of the most influential users and authorities on Adobe After Effects.

"Graphical particles are a hot topic today in motion graphics design, and wondertouch's particleIllusion provides a number of great looks - with over a thousand emitter presets available for download from wondertouch's web site as starting points. We're quite excited about adding the upcoming particleIllusion plug-in to our toolbox, and we expect many other After Effects users are as well."

Chris Meyer, CyberMotion

Ko Maruyama
Based in Los Angeles, Ko Maruyama is an award-winning animator and effects compositor and teacher at the Pasadena Art Center School of Design. He is also a contributing writer to the popular CreativeMac.com site on Digital Media Net. He has created commercials and promos for clients including MTV, Sketchers, Toyota, Coca-cola, Fox Kids as well as music videos for the Goo Goo Dolls, Train, JayZ, Hole, Wheatus, Bone Thugs, and Toni Braxton, and others.

"Now that even conservative 2D Mac artists are quickly gaining ground on the 3D world, many designers are looking for a tool that will set them apart from the rest of the crowd. The additional features provided in wondertouch's recently released particleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X may prove to be an affordable way for artists to quickly introduce complex particle animations into any composition."

Ko Maruyama, animator and effects compositor

NBC Studios
NBC Studios in Los Angeles is currently using particleIllusion to create visual effects on the hit soap opera, "Passions".

"At any given moment I might be called on to create out-of-this-world effects as well as those that match, look and move in a realistic way. With particleIllusion I can do both. Its power, versatility and compatibility with leading compositing applications have made it a staple tool in our production arsenal."

Stuart Roholt, digital effects supervisor, NBC Studios

The Animation Farm
wondertouch's particle effects solutions are being used by Austin-based The Animation Farm to create animated interstitials between segments on the "The Biscuit Brothers," a PBS live action and animated television series for children, and a recent music video in support of the Consumer Union's 'Prescription for Change' campaign.

"Being able to browse particleIllusion's formidable preset library of effects allows us to quickly conceptualize the effect we're looking for. Sometimes we use a preset out-of-the-box, at other times we replace them with our own images but maintain the original motion tracking. In a "Biscuit Brothers" scene called "Crazy Classics," we took a particleIllusion preset of a fountain spray and imported it to one of our 3D packages to create a series of musical notes. The net result looked like it took hours to create, when in reality we were able to achieve 3D quality results quickly and without effort."

Greg Omelchuck, art director, The Animation Farm.

Yoram Gross-EM.TV
Yoram Gross-EM.TV, internationally recognized as Australia's leading producer of quality children's and family entertainment, relies on particleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X to produce effects for 26, 24-min. episodes on the children's animated television series', "Flipper and Lopaka III - The Search for Neptune's Trident," "Tabaluga III," and "Seaside Hotel."

"As in any complex CG television production, 'Flipper and Lopaka III' challenges us to marry different source materials into one scene. Typically many of our special effects - twisters, blizzards, storms and secondary scene fillers such as blowing leaves, floating debris, plant life, mist and clouds - are created in post or are previously animated effects created in 2D that need 'polish'. Deploying particleIllusion together with Adobe After Effects, we are able to quickly customize the existing particleIllusion libraries with our own artwork and seamlessly match the effects design to our characters and background painting style to give viewers the impression that all the effects were generated from the same source."

Douglas Njegovan, 3D SFX Animator, Yoram Gross

Eden FX
wondertouch's particleIllusion has been a staple at Eden FX on numerous film, television and commercial projects. Presently the software is being used to create visual effects for the episodic television series' "JAG," and "Navy/NCIS," and a commercial for Nokia. particleIllusion was also used by Eden FX's Emmy award-winning team of visual effects artists on the hit television series, "Star Trek Enterprise."

"We are always looking for ways to wring the next level of performance out of our toolkits. wondertouch's particleIllusion is one such solution that delivers. A large part of our work for science fiction television involves the creation of various nebulae, spatial distortions, and exotic weaponry. However, during production on a recent Nokia commercial we used it to quickly develop several different looks for a flashing, psychedelic disco dance floor. I had become used to seeing particleIllusion used for organic effects and volumetric renderings, but it was great to see it used successfully for something so completely different from my expectations."

Stephen Pugh, visual effects producer, Eden FX

Java Post Production
Java Post Production, a Canadian-based production company specializing in visual effects and online editing for commercials, films and television programs, is using particleIllusion 3.0 on Mac OS X to create motion graphics effects for the premiere Jumbotron video presentation at Taylor Field football stadium in Saskatchewan; distinguished as being the third largest screen in North America.

"particleIllusion's speed, its extensive library of presets and its overall versatility initially attracted me to the software. Using particleIllusion exclusively on the Jumbotron presentation allowed me to select from a wide variety of emitters so that I could create approximately 70 effects - over 40 of them, including rendering time, in one day.

"As an After Effects user group member I was always envious when I'd hear the PC users talk about particleIllusion as being the best particle generation system available. With the latest version of the software now on OS X, I am finally able to 'keep up with the Joneses'!"

Jack Tunnicliffe, visual effects artist, Java Post Production

Turner Studios
For the past several years, Atlanta-based Turner Studios, the full-service broadcast production and post production division of Turner Entertainment Group, has used particleIllusion to create effects on myriad projects including the' 2004-2005 NBA season on TNT,' 'NASCAR on TNT' and promos for the Cartoon Network, TNT and TBS.

"Our client base is extremely varied since we support all of the Turner Entertainment Networks domestically and in Latin America. particleIllusion gives our editors an added toolset that none of our editing platforms provide, including Avid, Autodesk Media and Entertainment, and Quantel. The software is very easy-to-use and quickly delivers CG quality particle effects that we could not previously have taken advantage of without stepping into a CG suite. In our world, speed equates to high value and particleIllusion is the answer."

Ken Brady, director of technical operations, Turner Studios

HATCH FX
HATCH, a Los Angeles-based independent design and production studio, has relied on particleIllusion for the past two years to boost workflow significantly on a wide range of visual effects for feature film, television, commercial and interactive projects including "Constantine," "The Rundown," "The Manchurian Candidate," "Hellboy," "The Chronicles of Riddick," and "Blade: Trinity."

"Integrating particleIllusion into the pipeline as our primary particle effects tool has been critical to the creative process. Having worked with the software on several film projects, its ease-of-use, reliability and access to real-time viewing and lightning fast renders allow us to deliver stunning imagery and successfully improve the turnaround time of our shots."

Deak Ferrand, lead visual effects designer/matte painter, Hatch FX

High Road Productions
High Road Productions, is a Los Angeles-based film and television production company specializing in short films, commercials and music videos for clients including the Army, NBC, PBS, Sony and FOX. As a frequent user of particleIllusion and beta tester for wondertouch's Particle Emitters for Motion package, Noah Kadner comments…

"The wondertouch collection is overflowing with every conceivable effect. They are simply amazing! All the particle effects perform brilliantly within Motion and just as importantly, they look great. You could easily spend hours just going through every effect included in this package. For anyone working with particles, consider this a 'must-have' Motion addition!"

Noah Kadner, principal, High Road Productions

Radical Entertainment
Vancouver-based Radical Entertainment has relied on wondertouch's particleIllusion for the past several years for pre-visualization and full motion video effects on its top-selling game titles including the "The Simpson's Hit and Run," "The Simpson's Road Rage," "The Incredible Hulk," "Ultimate Destruction," and "Scarface."

"Using particleIllusion allows us to consistently deliver incredible gaming graphics and interactive experiences on many of our most popular entertainment products. particleIllusion's graphical user interface is so user friendly, that we made its workflow the basis for creating our in-house runtime particle tool. It is one tool that I can't do without when developing the art direction for a game."

Fernando Medrano, art director, Radical Entertainment

Rainbow Studios
Rainbow Studios located in Phoenix, Ariz., produces some of today's most exciting action game titles including: "MX vs ATV Unleashed," "MX Unleashed," "Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild," and "Star Wars Racer Revenge." The studio began using particleIllusion in 1999 where it played a key role in the popular animated TV series, "Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles." Since then, the software has been part of every studio project for straightforward particle effects content creation, as a means to prototype effects for games, and to enhance aspects of film and video work.

"particleIllusion offers unparalleled visual flexibility and is an ideal tool for fast-paced production environments. One of particleIllusion's main workflow benefits is that it permits various production team members such as vfx artists, art directors or production leads to track the visual progression of a shot to gain immediate feedback about how the finished effect will look, not only in terms of aesthetics, but with regards to motion flow, etc. With this information we can decide on-the-fly what areas need more work, or at least have an indication about how we will need to solve an effect."

Tom Granberg, senior artist, Rainbow Studios

Northern Lights Post
Northern Lights Post, one of New York City's leading creative editorial/post production houses, relies on particleIllusion software

"After a brief evaluation period, we were up-and-running with particleIllusion in just one day. We ultimately chose particleIllusion for the Beastie Boys video as our first foray using the software because its power, speed, and huge preset library allowed us to produce high-quality, realistic effects and textures to our shots quickly without going to a 3D package. Additionally, having the software on the same workstation as our HD graphics/finishing station allowed us to quickly pre-visualize effects and speed up our workflow. particleIllusion fills a gap that our other software packages do not provide."

Ross Shain, HD editor/effects artist, Northern Lights Post
